Hire Leaders for What They Can Do, Not What They Have Done


Hire leaders for what they CAN do, not based on past performance. The Peter Principle, states, “In time, every post tends to be occupied by an employee who is incompetent to carry out its duties.” Today, promotions are still largely a reward for past performance. To select the best people for leadership roles, organizations need to change how they evaluate candidates. It’s time to rethink leadership: Does the person have integrity? What are their true contributions? Can this person help our future?
