A native of the lively Breton-style town of Rossland, British Columbia, Charles specializes in computational finance, AI-driven modeling, and advanced risk analytics. He serves as a pivotal leader within the firm’s Data & Cognitive Sciences, Quantitative Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning practice groups, delivering transformative solutions across Information & Data Sciences, Retail, Luxury Retail, Financial Services, and Travel & Hospitality industries.

Charles’s academic journey began at the University of Waterloo where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.  He then obtained his Master of Financial Economics (MFE) from the University of Toronto, a premier program at Canada’s top engineering school. In addition, he has completed elite executive programs designed for senior leadership in analytics and strategy, obtaining an Executive Certificate in Strategy & Innovation from MIT Sloan School of Management and completing the Applied Business Analytics Executive Program at MIT Sloan Executive Education.

Charles’s career shows a deliberate progression through roles of increasing complexity and impact. He began his career as a Quantitative Developer at RBC, where he built algorithmic trading strategies for equity markets, enhancing trade execution efficiency by 18%. He later joined Scotiabank as a Senior Risk Analytics Manager where he led regulatory stress-testing frameworks, strengthening capital resilience and reducing VAR estimation errors by 22%. As a Lead Data Scientist at Lululemon, Charles deployed ML-based demand forecasting, reducing stockouts by 25% and improving turnover. Most recently, he served as Director, AI & Quantitative Models at Air Canada where he orchestrated cross-functional AI teams to optimize dynamic pricing and seat allocation, boosting RASM by 15%. At P&C Global, he now oversees global analytics and finance-oriented AI initiatives, integrating predictive models and digital transformation to deliver measurable ROI for top-tier clients.

Charles has led high-impact analytics and AI-driven initiatives across Information & Data Sciences, Retail, Financial Services, and Travel & Hospitality, delivering tangible results for clients in line with P&C Global’s multidisciplinary expertise.

  1. Smart Inventory & Pricing for a Canadian Retail Chain
A top-tier Canadian retail brand engaged Charles to develop an AI-enabled inventory and dynamic pricing system. By integrating point-of-sale data, competitor pricing feeds, and seasonal trends, his team created a predictive engine to optimize stock levels and pricing strategies in real-time.

    Outcomes:

    • 25% reduction in out-of-stock instances, boosting customer satisfaction.
    • 15% increase in gross margin through optimized pricing tactics.
    • $40 million in incremental annual revenue, driven by smarter inventory alignment.
  2. Predictive Maintenance for Industrial Manufacturing Client
A global manufacturer leveraged Charles’s leadership to implement an AI-driven predictive maintenance platform using IoT sensors and machine learning. The system flagged equipment anomalies before failures, enabling proactive servicing and minimizing disruptions.

    Outcomes:

    • Unplanned downtime decreased by 35%, aligning with observed industry benefits of predictive maintenance.
    • Maintenance costs cut by 20%, as reactive repairs were displaced by scheduled interventions.
    • 15% improvement in asset utilization, thanks to optimized maintenance cycles.
  3. Dynamic Fare & Ancillary Pricing for International Airline
An international airline partnered with Charles to build a deep reinforcement learning pricing engine for seats and ancillaries. This system continuously adjusted prices based on real-time demand, customer behavior, and competitor moves.

    Outcomes:

    • 10% uplift in revenue per available seat mile (RASM), mirroring industry AI-driven pricing gains.
    • 20% increase in ancillary revenue from personalized offers.
    • 12% higher load factor, through optimized seat allocation and fare curves.

These engagements reflect Charles’s expertise in computational finance, AI, quantitative analytics, and machine learning, delivering measurable value in retail optimization, industrial resilience, and aviation yield management.

Born and raised in Rossland, Charles grew up mountain biking and racing through its alpine trails—experience that informs his decisive yet adaptable leadership style. Today, he lives in Vancouver with his wife, Marisol—a former U.S. federal judge turned corporate attorney—and their two children. Family weekends often involve cooking with Marisol, enjoying Pacific sunsets, or embarking on spontaneous road trips exploring British Columbia’s coastlines.

Reflecting on life at P&C Global, Charles shares:

“What motivates me is not just building models—it’s building trust. Clients lean on us to translate complex analytics into decisions they believe in, and I love that we deliver clarity through data.”

With warm self-deprecation, he adds:

“When I first started mentoring young data scientists, I realized teaching TensorFlow is easier than getting my kids to eat vegetables—but both require patience, playfulness, and persistence!”

Charles’s blend of quantitative acumen, strategic leadership, and heartfelt humanity makes him a cornerstone of P&C Global’s Vancouver team. His colleagues and clients alike appreciate his deep intellect, calm presence, and capacity to translate data into narratives that drive action and trust.
